Step 2 - Pain and Injections Therapies
In cases of stronger pain, we apply injections directly were it hurts. Pain medication and anti-inflammatory drugs are used, which are injected either at the irritated nerve root or the small vertebral joints of the spine (facet joints).
When the joints are lacking the necessary lubricating fluid, we can replace it by injecting hyaluronic acid – a procedure that is almost pain-free and especially well tolerated. One on our specialties is known as interleukin-1 therapy, a method that originates in molecular biology. It is based on the injection of the body's own proteins into vertebral joints or at the inflamed roots of nerves – ideal for patients with arthrosis, in cases of pain caused by sciatica or irritated nerves resulting from a herniated disk.
