We show you, how to live a healthy life!

There are many fears and prejudices connected with the treatment of diabetes. Yet living with this illness does not necessarily entail a reduced quality of life. Thus, it is not always imperative that patients undergo therapy with insulin. Nevertheless, it is essential to adjust one’s diet, and possibly intentionally lose weight – as well as incorporate exercise into one’s daily schedule.

The Jägerwinkel Private Clinic Offers You a Holistic Therapeutic Concept

We will show you how you can prevent consequential damage to your heart, kidneys, eyes, blood vessels and nerves. At the same time, we respect our patients’ personal circumstances. A comprehensive check-up plays an important role, serving to rule out or identify individual risk factors for secondary diseases in time. In case medication is a must, we will find, together with you, the kind of therapy that suits you best.

The Latest Procedures for Optimal Prevention

Secondary diseases specific to diabetes are, for example, the following: Coronary heart disease, renal insufficiency, certain eye diseases, neural disease (polyneuropathy) as well as circulatory and wound healing disorders. We clarify if and to which extent such damages and risks for additional secondary illnesses came into being.

  • Bio-impedance Analysis:
We generate a body analysis in order to be able to determine fat content and muscle mass. In nutritional medicine, this serves as a good progress parameter to evaluate therapeutic success.
  • DuplexSonography of the Leg’s Arteries:
If diabetes has been present for some time, it may lead to arteriosclerosis. These examinations help us identify even the smallest plaques and deposits which lead to circulatory disorders in the legs. Often they are the cause for poorly healing wounds.
  • Duplex Sonography of the Cervical Vessels:
Diabetics are at an increased risk of suffering strokes. With this examination, we can recognize deposits in, or constrictions of, the vessels supplying the brain. This enables us to assess the risk of a stroke and reduce it with targeted therapy.
  • Computer tomography/MR Angiography of the Vessels:
In case sonographically guided examinations indicate a constriction in the cervical or leg vessels, we will investigate whether these constrictions will have to be removed.
  • Kidney Examination:
With a sonographic examination of the kidneys and the determination of the urine protein content, impending renal damage can be recognized in advance and treated in time.
  • Measurement of Nerve Conduction Velocity:
Often, restless legs or sensory disturbances in the feet can be the result of damage to the nerves related to diabetes. We can identify these damages through a special neurological examination.
  • Examination of the Back of the Eyes (Ophthalmoscopy):
Diabetics tend to develop changes in the retina. These are diagnosed in cooperation with our ophthalmologists, in order to counteract a reduction of eyesight in time.
  • Coronary Analysis:
Diabetes poses a significant risk factor for coronary heart disease. We can evaluate individual risks for a heart attack with non-invasive methods, such as sonography of the heart (echocardiography), exercise ECG and the measurement of coronary calcification (Computer tomography of the heart).

A conscious and high-quality diet means quality of live!

Basically, diabetics should follow the same dietary recommendations as non-diabetics: Healthy and proper nutrition for them includes a balanced, low-fat diet, rich in fruit, vegetables and fiber.

In case you need to reduce your weight, we will show you - after a detailed discussion and a comprehensive body analysis - how you can satisfy your hunger and still control your weight. If necessary, we will also develop an individual menu for you, in close cooperation with our top chefs and our nutritionist team.

Physical exercise plays an important role. Our experienced physiotherapists will create an exercise program especially tailored to your personal physical performance abilities. We will give you tips and ideas which you will be able to integrate with your daily life, once back home. That way, you will achieve a sustainable effect as well as a long-term drop in your blood sugar levels. Often, this can lead to a reduction of medication or prevent insulin treatment. In case an additional therapy with tablets or insulin should still be necessary, we will treat you with the most modern and safe procedures. At the same time, we always try to respond to the personal circumstances of our patients.

We will find the drug therapy that suits you best!
