Pain assessment and treatment through osteopathy

Osteopathy serves to diagnose the causes of pain. It can be applied in all areas of medicine with an underlying functional aetiology. The aim is to prevent decompensations and to alleviate the patient’s pain.

The osteopath’s scope of activity includes the full range of functional disorders and, indirectly, structural disorders of the musculoskeletal system (orthopaedics, trauma, sports medicine) involving the organs of the chest, abdomen and pelvis (cardiology, pneumonology, internal medicine, gynaecology and urology). It also includes the organs of the central and peripheral nervous system (neurology, otolaryngology), the oral and dental system (dental medicine and orthodontics) as well as deficits in early childhood sensorimotor and psychosocial development (neonatology, paediatrics and adolescent medicine).

There are three key aspects of osteopathy:

  • Craniosacral osteopathy
  • Visceral osteopathy
  • Parietal osteopathy

We obtain a detailed history from our patients and perform an examination in order to make an accurate assessment of the problem. Depending on the individual presentation of the illness, we make further treatment recommendations, such as osteopathy.

We offer the following treatments / specialty areas:

  • Infant and paediatric osteopathy
  • Trigger point treatments (dry needling)
  • CMD (craniomandibular dysfunction)
  • Mandibular joint treatments
  • Neural mobilisation
  • Neural therapy and pain therapy

Treatment indications:

  • Counselling and treatment for orthopaedic, neurologic and gynaecologic symptoms
  • Support and movement system problems (such as back pain, prolapsed discs, joint problems)
  • Internal abdominal organs (post-operative, etc.)
  • ENT area
  • Mandibular orthopaedics and dentistry (e.g. TM joint problems)
  • Pregnancy and post-partum
  • Non-specific symptoms (e.g. dizziness, headache, gastrointestinal complaints)
  • Chronic diseases and symptoms
  • Paediatric osteopathy (e.g. tilted head posture, “colicky” children, GI problems, problems with swallowing and sucking)
